The Jostens Renaissance School of Distinction designation was created to celebrate those schools that, in collaboration with the Renaissance community, are making a positive impact on school climate and culture through executing the Renaissance formula:

RESPECT + RECOGNIZE + REWARD + REINFORCE + RELATIONSHIPS = RESULTS.

Arcadia Valley High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

Our goal is to make school a place where everyone wants to be, and where everyone feels valued.

Outstanding idea:

Arcadia Valley High School revamped their main hallway with fun colors and shapes, but the coolest thing they did was incorporate student voice. The faculty came up with a list of 15 sayings and the student body voted on the one saying that was painted into the center of the new mural, serving as a reinforcement to be seen daily.

Flanagan Cornell High School – Silver Tier

Renaissance goals:

We believe FCHS should represent all of our students, teachers, and staff actively being kind and encouraging to one another. We should build one another up, and work to create a fair, fun, and understanding environment for all the people in it. We live in a small community which gives us the unique opportunity to have a meaningful connection to the people within it. We believe this should be a continued effort for us while in school, our community, and online to create positive, meaningful relationships with one another.

Outstanding idea:

Flanagan Cornell High School recognizes Students of the Month for each department or grade level in their school building by displaying their pictures on a wall of honor for everyone to see all month. This recognizes students for character, kindness, academic excellence, hard work and academic improvement.

Franklin County High School – Gold Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

The goals and values of our Eagle Excellence program is to have our students, parents and community proud to be apart of Franklin County High School. We want to make our school an inclusive place where all students can thrive and feel welcome and supported. The values of our group revolve around our Be R.E.A.L. motto. We recognize and reward our students for being Respectful, Engaged, Achievers, and Leaders. We hope to build student leaders who are not only effective study body leaders but also effective leaders well beyond high school.

Outstanding idea:

Franklin County High School painted their snow plows to represent their school, community, and values.

Greenbrier High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

Greenbrier High School’s Jostens Renaissance program focuses on celebrating not only student’s academics, but also on a variety of other reasons. For example, we recognize students who have good attendance, no discipline referrals, etc.. In addition, we celebrate and encourage our staffulty. We do this through Inspire Cards, Room Service, singing “Happy Birthday”, and selecting a GHS Renaissance Teacher of the Year. Finally, we want to let our stake-holders know that “being a good student” and over-coming obstacles are positives and deserves to be celebrated!

Outstanding idea:

Greenbrier High School created Honorary Diplomas where graduating seniors select one staffulty member to dedicate their diploma to.

Horizon Middle School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

Our goal is to recognize and reward our students for all of their achievements. We put a lot of emphasis on growth and effort, our population of students benefits from positive reinforcement in these areas.  The expectation is you build relationships with every student in your classroom, and we expect to see that as part of instruction throughout the year. Teachers are evaluated on class climate, culture and student relationships. All staff must attend two extra curricular activities which is built into their teacher evaluation process.

Outstanding idea:

Horizon Middle School recognizes staffulty members by making birthday phone calls home where the principal called a teacher’s parents or other identified important person on that teacher’s birthday to express appreciation for their work.

Kennebecasis Valley High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

The goal of Renaissance at KVHS is to make every staffulty member and student feel valued and recognized. We strive to create an environment at school where everyone feels welcome when they enter the building (including guests). The core values of our Renaissance program are kindness, character and commitment. Kindness to ourselves and each other, positive character traits and commitment to academics, attendance and a positive attitude.

Outstanding idea:

Kennebecasis builds relationships outside the walls of the school with the greater community at large by partnering with organizations for things like sock drives.

Kingman Academy – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

Our Renaissance group’s goal is to create a positive school climate and culture where everyone feels seen and welcome. Renaissance is dedicated to building a positive school climate and culture by respecting, recognizing, rewarding, and reinforcing tenacity, integrity, generosity, empathy, respect, and service within our school community.

Outstanding idea:

Kingman Academy recognizes staffulty by giving pins to each staffulty member that are personalized with a characteristic their peers would use to describe them.

LaSalle Peru High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

The mission of LaSalle-Peru High School (LP) Renaissance is to successfully motivate and encourage students to reach new behavioral and academic heights. By implementing the 5 R’s of Jostens Renaissance, we strive to empower students, educators, and communities to work together to encourage and celebrate the achievements of students and staffulty.

Outstanding idea:

LaSalle-Peru High School recognizes students for character and kindness by giving Most Inspirational Student Awards to students who bring joy to others.

Newberg High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

Our goal is to create a school climate & culture where all students & staffulty feel like they belong, and where all students are encouraged, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential both academically and personally.  Simply put, we want to achieve both a 100% Attendance Rate and 100% Graduation Rate. Our values include being inclusive of all students and staffulty on our campus. We want to find ways to Recognize, Reward, and Reinforce the achievements of ALL students. In order to do that, we must have Staffulty who are committed to their work and engaged in challenging students to be the best version of themselves. We want a school where everyone is encouraged, inspired, and empowered to be their best selves each and every day.

Outstanding idea:

Newberg High School created a Staffulty Commitment Wall (VISUAL) where Staffulty pledge their commitment to students.

North Stafford High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

The goal of North Stafford’s Renaissance Program is to continually foster a community of inclusiveness and excellence. We adhere to the principle that results will happen if we can empower each student to have a positive connection to the school. This past summer, we worked on simplifying our core values that represent not only our Renaissance program, but also our school. We decided to utilize “NORTH” as an acronym to highlight our core values:

No Excuses Optimism Resiliency Teamwork  Honesty

We believe that students and Staffulty who are committed to these core values will achieve success and create a culture of excellence.

Outstanding idea:

One of the things North Stafford High School refused to give up because it was so important to their school culture were their pep rallies. So, even despite COVID, they continued to hold regular pep rallies virtually and they found it was a great way to include their community members as well and not just limit the pep rallies to students and teachers.

Powell High School – Platinum Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

The goals of Powell High School Renaissance program is to notice others, listen to them, and let them know they are  important. Also, to encourage them to be involved in school activities. We accomplish these goals by instilling our core values of commitment to the school and community, by building positivity and kindness, and recognizing students and Staffulty.

Outstanding idea:

Powell High School recognizes staffulty by giving Awards like the Tireless Teacher, Bringin’ the Heat, The Giver, and Killin’ It Awards that carry fun inflatables to display in the classroom.

Summerville High School – Silver Tier

Renaissance goals and values:

The initial goal of our Renaissance program at Summerville High School was simply to have a Renaissance program! This was our first year implementing Renaissance at Summerville High School and we wanted to hit the ground running hard and begin making an impact starting with our staffulty, and then our students. Our next goal for our Renaissance program were two measurable goals: to see a decrease in schoolwide student discipline, and to see an increase in teacher morale.

Outstanding idea:

Summerville High School recognizes staffulty by hosting a Custodial Recognition Dinner where students cook and serve the custodial staff.
