Tips for Attending the Jostens Renaissance Global Conference 2025

Tips for Attending JRGC 2025

California based Renaissance educators Dr. Farah Ortega-Choate, Joy Glaspy, Terresa Amidei and Paul Dols have attended their fair share of Jostens Renaissance Global Conferences – here are their top eight tips for attending this year’s conference in San Diego, California. From pre-event bonding to session selection and can’t-miss tourist spots, we hope this gives you a jump start on a great time!

Pack with Confidence

At the conference, you will need comfy clothes that allow free movement, walking shoes, professional attire for the Awards Gala and because we are in California – sunscreen and a swimsuit! Here is an example of a JRGC packing list from Kennebecasis Valley High School. You may also want to dress each day according to the JRGC theme, so plan for that as well.

  • June 28: School Spirit apparel
  • June 29: Dress for the rally theme during the day. If your school registered to attend the Awards Gala, you’ll want to pack a nice outfit. Learn more about both events here.
  • June 30: Wear the conference shirt you receive upon check-in at JRGC

Inspire Active Participation

If you are coming with a group of students, consider organizing a team bonding night before arriving to San Diego to make shirts or other spirit wear. The more invested you are in this experience, the more your school will get out of it. Starting the conference off by attending The Leadership Academy with Carlos Ojeda Jr. will jump-start this frame of mind.

Be Intentional

Once you pick up nametags and conference schedules, review all the breakouts and choose ones that will be the most relevant for your school. If you came as part of a larger group, sit with your team and decide who will attend which breakouts so you can gather as much information as possible.

Lead with Spirit, Leave with Pride

Go ALL IN! Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the positive energy of fellow teachers and students who love making their school a better place. You are representing your school throughout the conference, and demonstrating your pride through dress and behavior makes a statement to other attendees.

Focus Your Efforts

There is so much information jammed into this three day conference – don’t get overwhelmed! Take notes, scan QR codes, and reflect on which ideas and initiatives will benefit your school this year. We recommend choosing three of the favorite things you learned to focus on for the school year and capping off your conference with the Action Planning Workshop led by educator Elizabeth Dalzell.

Network, Network, Network

The Jostens Renaissance Global Conference is the best place to build relationships with like-minded individuals and grow a support a system that you can turn to throughout the school year. Ask for phone numbers, emails and follow your new connections on social media platforms.

The Best of San Diego Awaits

Come a day early or stay a day late! These teachers suggest: The San Diego Zoo, Mission Beach, La Jolla Cove, Chula Vista Center (close enough to walk and offers several food options), Old Town San Diego for Mexican cuisine and seafood or Little Italy for Italian restaurants.
