Patrick Tabscott

National Renaissance Student of The Month: April – Patrick Tabscott

This month’s National Renaissance Student of the Month is Patrick Tabscott from Newberg High School in Newberg, OR. Nominator Mark Brown wrote:

Patrick is a rock star student leader! He joined our ASB leadership team as a Senior and immediately started to make a positive impact on our school’s culture. Patrick has been heavily involved in Theater and had the lead role in several productions. He is also very active in both Band and Choir. This year, he decided to join Wrestling. He is such an incredibly well-rounded student and positively impacts everyone and every group that he is a part of. This past month, Patrick took it upon himself to start a Positivity Exchange in our main hallway. He got the idea from another high school, but took it to the next level by getting some of his classmates involved in decorating a bulletin board and then initiating the campaign by getting students to start sharing notes and messages of positivity with one another. He checks on the board weekly and it has been such a great success! Patrick is living it up during his senior year and leaving a legacy of involvement and positivity on our school community. We are so proud of Patrick and thankful for what he does to make Newberg Nation a great place!

How long have you been involved with Renaissance?

One year.

What’s a favorite Renaissance moment for you?

When we hosted our Renaissance convention at Newberg, it opened my eyes to how people from any school can still get along with each other. We played mini games to get some ideas for assemblies and it was just so fun getting to know people from all my neighboring schools.

How has Renaissance impacted your school’s culture?

It gave me and the people in my leadership class lots of ideas which we actually ended up doing, and are still in the process of making happen. At our last assembly, we had a school wide rock paper scissors competition which has been our most successful school wide event of the year.

How has Renaissance affected you personally?

I met a lot of people at our convention I didn’t know before, and it’s really helped me branch out and find people I have a lot in common with.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with Renaissance?

It’s all about fun! It can be difficult to organize things and make events happen, but if you just have fun it goes a lot smoother and easier.

Patrick will receive a water bottle and a sticker in recognition of his achievement.
