INSTRUCTIONS FOR A SENIOR WALK:
- Dedicate a class period, after seniors have received their graduation regalia, for your Senior Walk. Ask teachers to block off this time so everyone at school can participate!
- Encourage younger students to make posters and/or signs to cheer seniors on.
- At the designated time on the day of your Senior Walk, have students and Staffulty™ line the halls.
- Dressed in their caps and gowns, have seniors process through the halls in an organized manner so they pass all the classrooms and spaces.
- Play music, provide noisemakers and encourage loud cheering and congratulations!
- Middle school, junior high or elementary students who are transitioning up could wear their Sunday best or school spirit apparel that represents their next school.
- Make this a tradition that younger students remember and seniors look forward to.
- Close with an assembly or serve a treat after the seniors are finished.
ADDITIONAL IDEAS & OPPORTUNITIES:
- If you are doing this activity at the high school level, we recommend that you do it after seniors have received their graduation regalia.
- Make a video of the Senior Walk and post it on social media so your wider community can see, too!
- Have younger students make posters and signs to cheer on the seniors.
- Do this with any class that is having a graduation event – kindergarten graduation, elementary graduation, or 8th grade graduation!
- Do this in your yearbook classroom! Choose a day to celebrate the soon-to-be grads in your class. Host a pizza party or ice cream social with a moment of applause for your seniors—dressed in their caps and gowns!
