Student Care Stations

Place student care stations throughout your school with school supplies and hygiene products to help students feel prepared and confident every day at school, no matter their economic situation or emergency.

School Type: Elementary school, middle school, high school

Activity Goal: Provide student personal care supplies discreetly

Prep Time: 1 – 2 hours

People Required: 2 -4 student, Staffulty leaders including maintenance team.

Space Required: A place that students can access discretely

Timing: Anytime

Materials: Acrylic wall organizers, travel size deodorants, shampoos, soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste, tampons, pads, notebooks, pencils, erasers, etc

Cost: $150+ for the organizers, $50 per month for supplies

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING UP STUDENT CARE STATIONS:

  1. Choose strategic spots at school so students can access the student care stations easily and discreetly. Obtain necessary permissions if needed.
  2. Purchase holders and baskets, and install with a maintenance team member.
  3. Involve student leaders to help pick out supplies for the stations.  Once supplies are purchased, fill the stations.
  4. Promote the Student Care Stations in a positive manner through social media, announcements and student email – make sure ALL students feel free and encouraged to utilize this service.
  5. Fill up student care stations once a month or as needed.

ADDITIONAL IDEAS & OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Have students take ownership of this! Have them not only choose the supplies, but also budget and monitor the inventory.
