Teamwork
Growing into leadership requires the ability to influence and be influenced by others. From building connections with others, to understanding the motivations behind the thoughts, actions and beliefs of others, to setting all team members up for success are requirements of leadership. In this unit, students will explore group dynamics through the initial team forming stages all the way through reflections of team progress.
Lessons can be taught as stand-alone topics or can be used in a traditional unit format with one topic leading into the next. When taught in its entirety, this unit’s lessons build student capacity in the following areas.
Students will:
- Investigate the give and take between superiors, equals, and subordinates within a group and develop an appreciation for the dichotomy associated with positional responsibilities.
- Create respectful relationships based on trust with their leadership classmates.
- Explore situations in which their skill sets and knowledge base make them ideal leaders versus ideal supporters and teammates.
- Practice being a good team member, leader, and school climate influencer.
