INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSITIVE PRINCIPAL OFFICE REFERRALS:
- When a teacher observes a student doing something worthy of praise (academic progress, kindness towards peers, etc), the teacher completes and turns in the form to the front office.
- An administrator (principal, vice principal, etc.) reviews forms and selects a student to be called to the office at a convenient time.
- The student is called to the office a the set time to meet with an administrator – remember, the student isn’t aware of what for yet! Keep it a surprise!
- Student meets with administrator, where they are rewarded with their Positive Principal Referral, a handshake or fist bump, personal thanks, and a tangible reward (i.e. goodie bag, coupon for a local business).
- Spread the positivity – mail the Positive Principal Referral to parents so they can be surprised, too!
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:
- Nominate students who are not often formally recognized.
- Incentivize Staffulty (staff + faculty) to nominate students by entering their name into a raffle every time they submit a student.
- If more administrators, not just the principal, want to create better relationships with students, call this Positive Office Referral.
