NATIONAL RENAISSANCE STUDENT OF THE MONTH: DECEMBER – OLIVIA CAMACHO

This month’s National Renaissance Student of the Month is Olivia Camacho from Deland High School in Florida. Nominator Mendi Camacho writes (lightly edited):

“Due to COVID-19 we couldn’t have our traditional homecoming festivities including our annual pep rally Growl. Olivia took it on to organize a Virtual Growl. She recorded different groups, teams and organizations and filmed them over a two week period. She put together an amazing virtual experience for our students, staffulty and community. She spent hours and hours editing and perfecting the video. By doing this, Olivia kept our Bulldog Spirit alive during this pandemic and gave everyone something to look forward to. Olivia is a 4-year Renaissance member and is currently the president of Renaissance. She is involved in many other groups on campus and maintains a high GPA as well.”

How long have you been involved with Renaissance?

4 years.

What’s a favorite Renaissance moment for you?
My favorite Renaissance moment is creating all of the set and decorations for our past rallies. I really enjoy making the theme come to life.

How has Renaissance impacted your school’s culture?
Over the years the students’ participation and kindness has spread greatly throughout our campus.

How has Renaissance affected you personally?
Renaissance has honestly made me a better person. As a leader it’s a great way for me to use my creativity and help people become the best versions of themselves.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with Renaissance?
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Do what scares you! This way you can live up to your full potential!

Olivia will receive a shirt and a lapel pin in recognition of her achievement.
