This month’s National Renaissance Student of the Month is Ella Fryer from Bixby High School in Bixby, OK. Nominator DeWayne Patterson writes (lightly edited):

“During the past year, Ella has become very aware of the importance of mental wellness. She has taken it upon herself to spread a weekly positive message. Ella has started “The Radiance Project.” Each week, those that sign up will receive one positive text message to start of their week. Hopefully, this message will set a positive tone for those receiving it. Ella is excited to get as many people as possible to sign up for her weekly text.”

How long have you been involved with Renaissance?

Three years.

What’s a favorite Renaissance moment for you?
Watching the inspirational videos.

How has Renaissance impacted your school’s culture?
Our leadership students have had the opportunity to be enlightened by Renaissance. We have taken the valuable resources and implemented ideas into better outcomes for our student body.

How has Renaissance affected you personally?
When I ran for OASC state president, my platform was to promote Mental Health Awareness in high schools. I feel the Renaissance resources provided helped our leadership group create and promote ideas for our campaign in a positive way.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with Renaissance?
I would tell them to be open-minded and be eager to understand new ideas.

Ella will receive a shirt and a lapel pin in recognition of her achievement.
