This month’s National Renaissance Student of the Month is Julianna Clouser from Kingman Academy of Learning High School in Kingman, AZ. Nominator Erin Schreurs writes (lightly edited):

“Julianna has been a driving force in our Renaissance program since her freshman year when she attended JRGC. Since then she has been involved in almost every Renaissance activity, and has served as a co-captain the last two years. She is the first person to volunteer in any capacity, serving on committees, planning events, and supporting other students and staffulty. Most notable, this year Julianna planned and executed one of biggest events of the year, our annual Fall Carnival event. This event is open to the public, and she managed to create an event that was welcoming to all ages in our community and encouraged families to have fun together. She organized games, gathered volunteers, created advertisements, contacted vendors, and collected donations, just to name a few things. As an advisor, Julianna is one of the first Renaissance members I contact when I need help, or have ideas I want to share. Her enthusiasm and love of the Renaissance program and mission is at the forefront of all her activities, and she is a dazzling example of a the character and actions of a student leader.“

Since freshman year.

What’s a favorite Renaissance moment for you?
My favorite Renaissance moment would have to be attending the 2019 JRNC in Orlando as a freshman. It was a great opportunity and such a memorable experience.

How has Renaissance impacted your school’s culture?
Renaissance has impacted my school’s culture by making it a place everyone feels comfortable and welcomed. We do our best to make high school a place people want to be at.

How has Renaissance affected you personally?
Renaissance has affected me personally by surrounding me with a great group of people and advisors. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone to make an impactful change to my school.

What advice would you give to someone just starting with Renaissance?
You are the change of the school so keep an open mind, voice your ideas, and implement what you learn.
